This week’s photo challenge asks for a picture that captures a fleeting moment in life. I immediately thought of this series of pictures. Two weeks ago, I spotted a huge dandelion in the garden. I lay down, and pushed my macro lens close up. What I saw took my breath away – a soft, daintily constructed world composed of gentle, silky curves than shone like satin in the spring sunshine. I yearned to climb in there and hide.
This ephemeral beauty only remains on my memory card. It had disappeared the following morning, blown away by the wind. Next year it’ll be back again, and Candide Canon and I will be waiting.
Stunning photographs MM !
Murky buckets, Mamzelle 🙂
OMG – truly amazing images!!
Thank you! (blushes and hides in pile of ironing).
LOL! : ))))
These are absolutely wonderful shots! Love dandelions, these really are gorgeous photos! I want your macro lens! 😀
Thanks,TAC 🙂 The lense is a Sigma 2.8f 50 mm macro, I have heaps of fun with it. It also produces great portrait shots, as it blurs out the background.
Thanks for the info, I shall be seeking one of those out in the not too distant future! 🙂
YOu can check it out on the Sigma website: http://www.sigmaphoto.com/product/50mm-f28-ex-dg-macro
Just checked it out… you should upload your dandelion pics on the site! Thanks for the link MM… really really want one now! 🙂 It’s not easy having an expensive passion! 😦
Stunningly beautiful!
Thank you 😀 All the merit goes to the unfortunately deceased dandelion – I just lay down in the dirt and took the pictures!
Lovely set of pictures – magic of the macro!
Thank you, young man (sounds nicer than FPF..).
I just love these. The fragility of them. You really captured the essence of fleeting.
Thank you, Andra. I won’t be able to get my head out of the door soon…. I love the way totally ordinary things are, in fact, amazingly intricate and beautiful close up.
Those are truly marvellous shots, MM. 😉 Such glorious, faery-like detail and the shapes are wonderful. That is some lens you have.
Thank you, Miss P. I’m thrilled with the lens, and I’d love to be a fairy and curl up in a dandelion. But I don’t think I’ll find one big enough for me….
beautiful close ups, MM – great pictures
Thanks! Hugs from MM Snowdonette 😉
Dandelions are the bane of my life but these photos are beautiful. Well done
I’m a dandelion fan- they rocked my childhood. You learn how to tell the time much quicker with a dandelion!
I loved them too until I grew up and tried to garden! My youngest is still a big fan and was fascinated by your photo
Beautiful shots!
Thank you! Now I’m off to check if you are a dog that can type. I think I’ve watched too much Walt Disney…..
Amazing!
Thank you, Chica!
Reblogged this on La chica de la burbuja.
Thank you, mucho appreciated!
Startlingly gorgeous – soft and yielding, magical and soothing. You have a terrific eye!
Thank you! (Blushes.) I love photography, and little things fascinate me, particularly in the natural world.
Fleeting would be the moment I dropped the camera when I came up close and personal with Mr Itsy Bitsy over there. Eek! Love the macro photog!
Nooooooo! Don’t tell me you’re scared of spiders???? (Says she who is scared of cockroaches…) This is macro photography, the little guy was minute!
Stunning pictures, would love a piece of art like that hanging on my wall.
Thank you!
It looks particularly beautiful in close-up. From a distance, you just want to stamp on it with your bovver boot and stop it sprouting more dandelions. Close up you want to gasp in admiration at the amazing beauty of the structure.
My neighbour has taken the wind out of my sails by announcing that it wasn’t a dandelion, but wild garlic. Humpf. Hope noone will be sending me to blogger’s equivalent of Siberia now.
Just checked on Google: it is most definitely NOT wild garlic, Mr Neighbour.
Wonderful shots – really beautiful and great illustration of ephemeral. Well done.
Thank you, Tina! 🙂
Your description is beautiful. It is an enticing fairytale world. I particularly like the spider in its silken pod.
He was a bit grouchy about me pushing in on him with my lens- maybe he was changing his undies?
Lol. You know, spider undies are something I’d like to see.
I think I’d need a better lens for that photo. Hope he wears Y-fronts raher than a g-string. It must be a real feat of engineering for eight legs 🙂
Stunning photos! A new lens is on the Christmas list.
Thank you 😉 I recommend macro lenses, they give access to a whole new world.
